Although it might appear to be a simple method for unlocking your vehicle, the key fob actually contains a number of advanced features that you didn’t know. Take advantage of these incredible features not many other Lexus owners know about!
Key Fob Hack 1 - start your Lexus remotely
Imagine a hot summer day in Forsyth or Macon. The air, thick with humidity, can be felt the moment you step outside. Lexus owners can enjoy the sweet relief of cool air when you start your car remotely. With your vehicle already locked, press the lock button three times while holding it down for three seconds on the third press. After you see the hazard lights flash multiple times, you should wait several seconds for the engine to start.
Key Fob Hack 2 - How to lower the windows on your Lexus from the outside
On those hot summer days in Warner Robins, even a couple seconds of letting out some of that hot air can make all the difference, right? How great would it be to roll down the windows as you are exiting the grocery store or shopping mall?
If you want to be able to roll down all of the windows with your Lexus key fob, the first thing you'll need to do is bring your car into our Macon dealership so that they can enable that feature for you (if it is not already enabled). When the programming of your key fob is complete, you will be able to roll down the windows from outside the vehicle by pressing and holding the unlock button for three seconds. Keep holding the button until all the windows and the moon roof are open. Once they are open all the way, they cannot be rolled back up from the outside of the vehicle.
Key Fob Hack 3 – pairing memory seats with your Lexus key Fob
Sure, most luxury cars come standard with seat adjustment buttons that save your seat settings for yourself and one other, but what if this was tied to the key fob? And what if you could adjust the steering wheel, mirrors AND the seats? Here’s how to do that.
Sitting inside the car, with your foot OFF of the brake, click the start button twice to put the car in accessory mode. Set these 3 items (seat, steering wheel and mirrors) in the position you would want them. Once this is to your preferred adjustment, press the according memory button – 1, 2 or 3 along with the “set” button. You will hear a long beep to confirm this is saved. Now, to pair this to your Lexus key fob do the following:
Press and hold the "set" button at the same time as the unlock button. Voila – you have paired all 3 of these settings to your Lexus fob!
Key Fob Hack 4 – Unlock ALL doors with the unlock button
Perhaps you have kids that are with you most of the time and need to climb in the back seat. For this Lexus key fob secret, you don’t have to be inside the car but it is better if you are. With the car turned off, press and hold the lock and unlock button at the same time for a period of 5 seconds. If you are in the driver’s seat you can simply look at the dashboard and you will see a red indicator near the doors on the car image. This confirms that this feature has been unlocked.
Key Fob Hack 5 - Set battery saving mode
You should put your Lexus key fob into battery-saving mode if you are going to be gone for more than a few weeks and do not intend to use it. This will prevent the battery from running down as quickly. To do this, press and hold the lock button on your key fob while at the same time pressing and holding the unlock button twice. When the key fob has been turned off, the electronic key indicator, which is a small light located in the top right corner of the key fob, will flash four times as a confirmation.
You are able to reactivate the key fob at any time by pressing any of its buttons.

If you look carefully, you'll find a key that you can use to get into your car until you can get to the store and get a new key fob battery. If the battery in your key fob has died, you will need to locate the small button on the key fob that releases the key to unlock your Lexus. It's possible that the placement will be different from one model year to the next. To remove the mechanical key from the new key fobs, press the button located on the top left side of the key fob, then pull out the key. This will release the key from inside the fob. Note: If you use the key to unlock your door, you will need to use the key to manually lock it as well.
Now, proceed to the door on the driver's side of the vehicle and pull the handle to reveal a small keyhole. You can unlock your Lexus by inserting and turning your key. To start the engine, hold your key fob up to the start button and press. This is a fantastic thing to know in case you find yourself in the unfortunate situation that your fob does not work to let you in to your Lexus.
