Many vehicles that were manufactured prior to 2018, had subscription services that were connected via 3G technology, which was the most up to date at the time the vehicles were manufactured. Since then 4G and now 5G has become the new standard for wireless technology. For that reason, all Lexus 3G connected vehicles will sunset on October 31st, 2022.  This decision was not made by automakers, but rather the telecommunications industry.

Lexus Enform subscription services will be terminated on 2010-2018 vehicles:

  • 2010-2017 all models

  • 2018 GX460

Here's are the Enform impacted services:

  • Lexus Enform Safety Connect including Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Emergency Assistance Button and Stolen Vehicle Locator

  • Lexus Enform Remote including Remote Engine Start/Stop, Door Lock/Unlock, Vehicle Finder, Guest Driver Monitor, Vehicle Status and Alerts, Key Fob Remote Start, and Integration with Alexa® and The Google Assistant

  • Lexus Enform Destination Assist including 24-hour live response center agent

  • Lexus Enform Service Connect including Vehicle Health Report, Vehicle Alerts, and Maintenance Alerts

Why is 3G being phased out?

As wireless technology continues to evolve, telecommunications providers in North America are making significant changes to their legacy communications infrastructures and network capabilities

Most telecommunications providers have elected to terminate 3G wireless services, which will impact available services for not only cars but cell phones as well on 3G networks. This was not a decision that Lexus made and this change will affect nearly every vehicle on 3G technology.

Can I pay a fee to keep my existing services?

Unfortunately, because these factors are beyond our control, there can’t be anything done to continue using these services in your car. However, you can upgrade to a newer vehicle. Browse our selection of the latest Lexus vehicles here.

What if I have an existing subscription to Lexus Enform?

Any unused portion of an affected paid subscription service will be refunded at a prorated amount. These refunds will begin on November 1, 2022

Here’s what you need to know if you have one of the vehicles mentioned above in the Macon, Warner Robins, Perry or Forsyth area. You have three choices:

Will I be in the same situation in a couple years if I buy a new or newer Lexus?

It is unlikely. Mobile tech companies expect the latest technology to last a minimum of a decade before upgrades are needed. And who knows, we may all be very well driving EVs by then!
